There really are ten old barns at Ten Barn Farm!
The farmhouse is on the National Register of Historic Places, built in 1790 and available on Airbnb. The fields have been worked for 200 years, and today our family farm grows organic vegetables and fruit.
After three years of planning and building we opened The Kitchen in May 2022, hoping to create a place where people could come to relax in a green space, surrounded by ancient barns, and have the freshest possible meal. This is a family enterprise and while we thought we had the ingredients for success–culinary skills, fields of fresh veggies and a magical setting–when we opened we really had no idea what was going to happen. What happened was we met amazing people who appreciated what we were doing, and a community was born where dog-walkers, bike riders, and neighbors met to eat, relax, and visit with us (and the goats.)
It has been four months since the last event of our second season–an amazing rare wine dinner–and we have spent the time thinking about sustainability, planning for the new season, and traveling to beautiful places. The big news is we got our wine and beer license! A new focal point for our energies will be Friday evenings when we will be open from 4:00-8:00 offering nimbles, one simple dinner option and a list of wines by the glass curated by our son, Andrew, with 15 years experience in the fine wine world. On Fridays throughout the season we will host coffeehouses, art exhibits, and themed evenings. But perhaps the best reason to come on a Friday evening is to watch the sun set against the hillside with glass in hand. The early evenings here are so beautiful as the sun goes down. We invite you to start your weekend with us with a glass of wine or a beer before you head elsewhere, or stay for the sunset and a delicious, simple meal. As you will see below, there will be more events in 2024—special dinners, coffeehouses, cooking and art classes, as well as game and movie nights. For full descriptions of each event, cool pictures and a link to reserve your spots, please explore the full calendar. Beyond the Kitchen's Instagram page @thekitchenattenbarnfarm where you can always find the daily menu during the season, we will keep you up-to-date via monthly newsletters featuring the new things happening at Ten Barn Farm (and pictures.)
